We love when fiancés find ways to make their marriage celebration fun — as the couple in this Maryland wedding did. The bride and groom get ready. Perhaps the spouses-to-be have a first look. The wedding party and guests congregate at a wedding venue in the Washington DC area. After the newlyweds exchange their vows, their Washington DC wedding photographer takes family formals pictures and couples portraits. The wedding reconvenes at a local hotel, restaurant or club for the reception. The wedding guests and the newly-married spouses celebrate the nuptials by dancing late into the night.

Because their Maryland wedding took place in an outdoor location, they assumed that their guests needed help finding the facilities. To address that, they had their wedding planner create an arrow-shaped sign that pointed the way to the bathroom. From the perspective of Washington DC wedding photographer, though, the best touch was having their ring bearer hold the sign. To a DMV wedding photographer, the combination of a cute kid holding a mildly inappropriate prop made a great scene. The kind of scene that made nearly every guest at that Maryland wedding laugh. The kind of scene that neither they nor the newlyweds would ever forget.
It also proved to be the kind of scene that led to some award-winning DC wedding photography. We submitted this particular image to the Masters of German Wedding Photography contest and were fortunate enough to win. It was a huge honor for a Washington DC wedding photographer to receive such a prestigious international award.
