Kalero Vineyard Wedding | Loudoun County, VA

As wedding photographers in the DMV, we’ve documented dozens of celebrations at wineries in Loudoun County. Every single one of those wedding venues is gorgeous and unique in its own way, but we recently discovered that a Kalero Vineyard wedding offers a little something extra special!

Located in Purcellville, Kalero Vineyard is a working winery with beautiful views of the Northern Virginia countryside and a historic barn that dates back to 1834. The setting and the rustic charm are already great reasons to choose Kalero, but what we particularly like about photographing there is how those different spaces work together to create a beautiful wedding day.

You can exchange your vows outside in Kalero’s ceremony space, which sits in a clearing among rows and rows of grapevines that turn orange in the fall. Then you and your new spouse can get gorgeous portraits with the stunning hills of Loudoun County behind you. Afterwards, you can join the cocktail hour on Kalero’s covered porch or sunny patio. And once the sun goes down, you can bring the party indoors and celebrate your wedding inside the historic barn.

Getting Ready for a Kalero Vineyard Wedding

But that’s not all! What really sets this Loudoun County winery wedding venue apart is its beautiful new bridal suite. Recently constructed, this standalone building offers a serene spot to get ready for the day’s events and one of the most jawdropping views imaginable of the countryside around. A similar space in the barn’s loft is perfect for the other half of the couple to get dressed and spend time with loved ones before the ceremony.

As wife-and-husband wedding photographers who always work together, we particularly like this setup. Having the couple get ready onsite means no time gets wasted on traveling from a hotel to the venue. So Pete can spend the whole morning photographing the groom and his side of the preparations, while Anji doesn’t miss a thing in the bridal suite.

Outdoor Wedding Ceremonies at Kalero Vineyard

Kalero sits on approximately 130 acres in western Loudoun County, which means it features some of the most unbelievable views of the vineyards and surrounding mountains.

Its dedicated outdoor ceremony area is nestled among the vines and has a built-in wooden pergola that couples can personalize with flowers or other decorations. If that doesn’t fit your particular wedding vision, though, there are multiple other spots around the property that can serve as a ceremony location.

After the ceremony, guests can gather on the stone patio or covered porch for cocktail hour. Both are connected to the barn, which makes the transition into the reception smooth and easy.

The Heartstone Barn at Kalero Vineyard

The main space at Kalero Vineyard is the Heartstone Barn, a nearly 200-year-old building equipped with the modern conveniences necessary to host weddings at any time of year. The name comes from a heart-shaped stone that the owners’ daughters once discovered on the property. Which we think is a pretty sweet and fitting origin story for a wedding venue!

The barn has the getting-ready lounge in one loft and a second, larger elevated area that is perfect for a sweetheart table or DJ booth overlooking the main space. The crisscrossing support pillars in that area give it a slightly intimate feel, but the space is plenty large enough for a dozen dinner tables and a big dance floor. And as anyone who knows us will tell you, we do love a good wedding dance floor!

A Few Things to Know About Planning a Kalero Vineyard Wedding

Kalero Vineyard is ready to host pretty large weddings. It can accommodate up to 150 guests inside Heartstone Barn, with seating for approximately 120 on the main floor and additional space in the lofts.

The barn is climate-controlled, making it an option for weddings throughout the year. And if the weather doesn’t cooperate with an outdoor ceremony plans, the venue has covered and indoor alternatives.
